This policy explains what happens to your personal data when you visit thebesttenerife.com (the "Site"), in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 on the Protection of Personal Data (LOPDGDD). The short version: the Site is a set of static pages that does not identify you and only collects aggregated visit statistics, without cookies.

Data controller

The controller of any personal data processed through the Site is the owner identified in the details shown above. For any question about this policy, or to exercise your rights, write to the email address shown there.

What the Site does not do

  • It has no user accounts, registration or login.
  • It has no contact forms, comment sections or newsletter.
  • It sets no cookies of its own and uses no browser storage, except the optional flag to stop counting your visits described under «Site statistics».
  • It loads no advertising, social media or tracking scripts from third parties. The only external tool is a cookieless visitor analytics service, described below.
  • Fonts and images are served from the Site's own server, so opening a page sends no request to a third-party font or image provider.

The language selection on the start page is made in your browser from its language setting and is neither stored nor transmitted anywhere.

Data that is processed

Server logs

Like any website, the server that hosts the Site records technical data for each request: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser and operating system (user agent) and the referring page, if any. The hosting provider processes these logs on behalf of the owner.

  • Purpose: security of the Site (detecting attacks and abuse) and diagnosing technical problems.
  • Legal basis: the legitimate interest of the owner in keeping the Site secure and working (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Retention: for a limited period, after which the logs are deleted or anonymised. They are not used to identify individual visitors or to build profiles.

Site statistics

To know how many people visit the Site and which pages they find useful, the Site uses Umami Cloud, an analytics service by Umami Software, Inc. that sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records, in aggregate, the page visited, the referring page, the type of browser, operating system and device, the language, the approximate country (derived from the IP address, which is not kept) and, when it happens, that an affiliate link was clicked and for which platform. This data is not used to identify you or to build a profile of you. If your browser has the "Do Not Track" option enabled, your visit is not recorded. You can also exclude your visits by adding ?umami=off to the address of any page: your browser then stores a flag (umami.disabled), with no personal data, that stops them being counted; ?umami=on removes it.

  • Purpose: knowing the number of visits and how the pages are used, in order to improve the content.
  • Legal basis: the legitimate interest of the owner in measuring the Site's audience in an aggregated, minimally intrusive way (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Retention: six months at most.

Email contact

If you write to the email address shown above, your address, your name if you give it and the content of your message are processed in order to answer you.

  • Purpose: handling your request (corrections, collaboration proposals, photo attribution issues or any other matter).
  • Legal basis: your own request, as a step prior to a possible agreement (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), or the legitimate interest of the owner in answering messages addressed to the Site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Retention: as long as needed to deal with the message and, afterwards, for the period in which legal liability could arise from it.

Email is not an encrypted channel; please do not send sensitive data.

Third-party services you may choose to use

Google Maps

Event pages can show a map of the venue. The map is not loaded when the page opens: nothing is requested from Google until you click "Show map". If you do, your browser connects to Google, which may set cookies and process your data in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. The "Open in Google Maps" link works like any other external link.

Affiliate and external links

Links to booking platforms (such as Civitatis, GetYourGuide or Viator), organisers, ticket sellers, Unsplash and other third-party websites take you out of the Site. Those websites are responsible for their own data processing and have their own privacy policies, which you are encouraged to read. The Site shares no data with them and does not know what you do there (it only counts, without identifying you, how many times each link is clicked); a commission, when it applies, is attributed by the platform through the link itself.

Recipients and international transfers

Your data is not sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes. The only recipients are the hosting provider and the visitor analytics provider (Umami Software, Inc.), which act as processors on behalf of the owner. Umami has servers in the European Union and the United States. If a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is covered by the safeguards provided for in the GDPR (adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses).

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data held about you;
  • ask for its rectification if it is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask for its erasure when it is no longer needed;
  • ask for the restriction of its processing in the cases provided for by law;
  • receive it in a structured, commonly used format (portability), where the processing is based on your consent or on a contract;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest, on grounds relating to your particular situation.

To exercise any of these rights, write to the email address shown above and state which right you wish to exercise. You may be asked to confirm your identity before the request is handled. You will receive an answer within one month, extendable in complex cases as the GDPR allows.

If you consider that your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Authority (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, AEPD) at www.aepd.es, or with the supervisory authority of the EU country where you live.

Cookies

The Site sets no cookies and uses no similar technologies (browser storage, pixels, fingerprinting) by itself. The statistics tool described above does not store anything on your device either, apart from the flag you may set yourself to stop your visits being counted. Because no non-essential cookie is placed before you take an action, the Site does not need, and does not show, a cookie banner. Cookies may only be set by Google if you choose to load a map on an event page, as explained above, and that choice is made each time you click the button.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the Site changes or the law requires it. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page; substantial changes will be published here before they take effect.
